Understand your result.
Compare avalanche and snowball repayment for two debts using fixed monthly minimums and an extra payment. Both strategies keep the total monthly budget available as debts are cleared.
Avalanche prioritises the higher rate; snowball prioritises the smaller balance. Compare interest and payoff time alongside the motivation each approach provides.

Questions you might have.
Can I enter a payment below interest?
This tool requires minimums that cover each debt’s initial interest and a total budget that reduces principal.
Do freed payments disappear after one debt is cleared?
No. They remain in the monthly budget and roll into the other debt.

How we calculate it
Pay each debt’s entered fixed minimum first, then allocate the remaining constant monthly budget to the highest APR (avalanche) or lowest balance (snowball). Freed payments roll into the next debt.
Assumptions & things to know
Two-debt comparison; constant APRs, fixed minimums, no new borrowing or fees. Bank credit-card minimums may change, so enter a sustainable fixed amount. Simulation limit: 100 years.
