Understand your result.

Project an opening amount plus contributions made monthly, quarterly or yearly. You can choose beginning- or end-of-period contributions and a negative return scenario.

This tool starts from an effective annual return, then derives the equivalent periodic return. That convention differs from dividing a nominal annual rate by 12.

A worked example.

Using this calculator’s default inputs, projected future value is ₹20,17,135. This is an illustration of the stated formula, not a forecast.

A common mistake to avoid

Comparing it directly with a nominal-rate projection while assuming the rate conventions are identical.

Questions you might have.

Can it model losses?

Yes. The permitted negative effective-return range lets you explore a declining investment scenario.

Are contributions indexed to inflation?

No. They remain fixed. Use Step-up SIP to explore an annual contribution increase.

How we calculate it

Periodic return = (1 + effective annual return)^(1/frequency) − 1. Apply the return and contributions in the chosen order for every period.

Assumptions & things to know

The annual return here is effective, unlike tools using a nominal rate divided by 12. Constant return; no taxes or fees. Negative returns are allowed as a scenario.
