Trading compounding
Model hypothetical gains and losses in rupees.
Hypothetical ending balance
For illustration only. Read the assumptions below for the full picture.
Understand your result.
Explore a hypothetical sequence of percentage gains or losses in INR, with a chosen share of positive profits reinvested. This adapts the arithmetic of forex compounding without currency conversion.
Ending capital and withdrawn profits are shown separately. Combining them gives the overall scenario outcome, before any trading costs.
A worked example.
Using this calculator’s default inputs, hypothetical ending balance is ₹1,60,844. This is an illustration of the stated formula, not a forecast.

| Investment amount | ₹1,00,000 |
|---|---|
| Assumed return per period | 2 % |
| Number of periods | 24 periods |
| Reinvest positive profits | 100 % |
A common mistake to avoid
Assuming a repeated positive return per period is realistic or guaranteed.
Questions you might have.
What is a period?
A consistent interval you choose, such as a trade or month. The tool does not annualise it or infer trading frequency.
Are losses partly withdrawn too?
No. Negative returns reduce capital in full; the reinvestment share applies only to positive profits.

How we calculate it
Each period earns balance × return. Reinvest the selected share of positive profits; withdraw the rest. Negative returns reduce the invested balance in full.
Assumptions & things to know
An INR-only mathematical scenario, adapted from forex compounding. Periods can represent trades, months or another consistent interval. No FX conversion, leverage, spreads, tax or trading recommendation. Repeated positive returns are not a forecast.
