Understand your result.

Estimate a monthly reducing-balance EMI for a home, personal or other amortising loan. See the total principal, projected interest and outstanding balance as the loan is repaid.

An affordable EMI and a low total interest bill are separate considerations. Extending a loan can reduce the monthly amount while increasing the interest paid over time.

A worked example.

Using this calculator’s default inputs, your monthly emi is ₹43,391. This is an illustration of the stated formula, not a forecast.

A common mistake to avoid

Comparing a flat quoted rate with a reducing-balance rate as if they were equivalent.

Questions you might have.

Will my lender charge exactly this EMI?

Lender rounding, disbursement dates, fees, insurance, floating-rate resets and repayment conventions may change the actual amount.

Where can I see every payment?

Use the Amortization Schedule calculator for monthly principal, interest and closing-balance rows.

How we calculate it

EMI = P × r × (1+r)ⁿ ÷ ((1+r)ⁿ−1), where r is the monthly interest rate and n is the number of payments.

Assumptions & things to know

Monthly reducing-balance loan with a constant interest rate. Processing fees, insurance, floating-rate changes and tax benefits are excluded.
