Goal savings calculator
Turn a life goal into a monthly plan.
Monthly investment to aim for
For illustration only. Read the assumptions below for the full picture.
Understand your result.
Translate a future purchase or life goal into a monthly investment scenario. The tool inflates today’s cost and credits the assumed growth of money already invested.
The suggested contribution depends on the goal cost, time available, inflation and return. Changing the return assumption is not the same as having a more affordable plan.
A worked example.
Using this calculator’s default inputs, monthly investment to aim for is ₹14,719. This is an illustration of the stated formula, not a forecast.

| Goal cost today | ₹20,00,000 |
|---|---|
| Amount already invested | ₹2,00,000 |
| Time period | 10 years |
| Expected annual return | 10 % |
| Annual goal-cost inflation | 6 % |
A common mistake to avoid
Mixing a future quoted cost with an input that is meant to be in today’s rupees.
Questions you might have.
Is inflation automatically applied?
Yes, at the rate you enter. Use today’s goal cost, or set inflation to zero if the amount is already a future target.
Are contributions made at month-end?
This goal tool assumes the beginning of each month, consistent with the SIP tool.

How we calculate it
Inflate today’s goal by (1+inflation)^years. Subtract growth of existing savings. Divide the remaining amount by the beginning-of-month SIP future-value factor.
Assumptions & things to know
Constant returns and goal-cost inflation. Contributions begin this month. Taxes and fees excluded; education or healthcare costs may inflate differently.
